When dealing with a home insurance claim, time is of the essence. Report the incident as quickly as possible, as most policies have strict deadlines. Be sure to document all damage thoroughly with photos and videos before making any major cleanups or repairs. If necessary, take temporary steps to prevent further damage—such as placing a tarp over a leaking roof or shutting off water to avoid flooding—but always wait for the insurance adjuster before making permanent fixes. Keep detailed records of expenses for temporary housing, emergency services, or materials, and save all receipts. Once the adjuster visits, request a copy of their report and ask questions to fully understand the assessment and next steps.

After an accident or vehicle-related incident, safety comes first—check for injuries and call emergency services if needed. As soon as you’re safe, document the scene with photos of all vehicles involved, any damage, license plates, and surrounding conditions. Gather the names, insurance details, and contact information of all parties involved, as well as any witnesses. File your claim promptly, either through your insurance company’s app, website, or by calling your agent directly. Keep records of police reports, repair estimates, towing expenses, and rental car costs. If your vehicle is being repaired, stay in contact with the repair shop and insurer to monitor progress and coverage.

  • Jeff can help you get protection for your boat, flood risks, and more!

For specialty policies like renters, travel, or liability insurance, the key is to know exactly what’s covered and act swiftly. With renters insurance, document damage or theft thoroughly and include a list of lost or damaged items with estimated values. For travel insurance, file your claim with supporting documents such as cancellation notices, medical records, or receipts. Liability claims often involve more complex circumstances, so gather statements, any incident reports, and notify your insurer immediately. In all cases, ask your provider for a checklist or overview of the process, stay organized with paperwork, and follow up regularly to avoid delays in resolution.

Don’t Just Take My Word For It…

  • He’s smart, detail-oriented, and always gets people the best rates. He once explained flood insurance in a way that made me tear up a little. I don’t know how he does it—maybe he just really loves helping people… or maybe he just really loves insurance.

    Jeff’s Wife

  • This guy clearly knows what he’s doing. He explained every detail of my policy three times and even brought me a casserole after. Honestly, if he doesn’t win 'Insurance Agent of the Year,' I might just write a strongly worded letter to someone.

    Jeff’s Mom

  • He helped me understand the difference between collision and comprehensive… and I’m 18. If that’s not talent, I don’t know what is. He even made a PowerPoint with a car emoji. Incredible work, 5 stars, even though he makes me go to bed at 9.
